Local open space preserve revealed in mountain hike
As part of its ongoing collection of outdoor activities, hikes and tours throughout the year, the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District offers a guided hike on Jan. 10, from 10 a.m. to noon through St. Joseph's Hill Open Space Preserve, located in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Docents Bernie Larkin and Baohsun Yang will lead participants on a moderately paced four-mile hike. With cooperative weather conditions, hikers should be able to see panoramic views of much of the South Bay.
The mission of the nonprofit MROSD is to acquire and preserve a regional greenbelt of open space land, protect and restore the natural environment and provide opportunities for public enjoyment of and education about these areas. Call 650.691.1200, or visit www.openspace.org.
