Marvin Becker a cartoonist?
I would like to thank Marvin Becker. After reading his letter to the editor in the Nov. 3 issue of the Saratoga News outlining a number of cartoon ideas that DeCinzo might have used, if Mr. DeCinzo had shared Mr. Becker's political philosophy and Mr. Becker's sense of satire, I now have a much better understanding of why Mr. DeCinzo is a political cartoonist and Mr. Becker is not.

Dog walkers--please clean up after pets
Is anyone as disgusted as I am about the selfish people who walk their dogs daily on Big Basin Way and let their dogs drop their "business" on the sidewalks, and then leave it there for the rest of us to step into or slide on?
If the dog-walkers can't figure out that they should carry pooper-scoopers and plastic bags and clean up after their dogs, how about the Village Association taking a lesson from the city of Carmel and installing posts with plastic bags on them and some kind of sign that tells the dog owners to please clean up after their pooches and use the bags?
After all, the retailers on Big Basin Way expect us to shop in their stores and to support the Celebrate Saratoga! night in October plus the Saratoga Christmas Open House the night after Thanksgiving, and it would be a lot more inviting if we knew we wouldn't be "decorating" our shoes when we participate in those events...not to mention those of us who walk every day on Big Basin Way.
