Mary Belasco
Saratogan Mary Belasco died Oct. 27 while asleep in her favorite chair. She was 80.
Born on Oct. 20, 1919, in Paris, Texas, Belasco was a homemaker and a Girl Scout Troop leader.
Belasco was preceded in death by her husband, Frank. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Fran and Paul Griffith and Jan and Ron Johnson; and grandchildren Kyle Johnson, Holly and Gregory Summers-Johnson, and Randy, Reese, Mary and Amy Griffith.
Memorial services have been held.
Araceli Cayetano
Saratoga resident Araceli Quijano Cayetano died Oct. 6 at the age of 66.
Cayetano was born April 2, 1933, in Calatagan, Batangas, in the Philippines. She was a member of the Chinese General Hospital Nursing Association and Lubang-LOOC International.
Survivors include husband Marcelo Cayetano of Saratoga; son Bernard Cayetano of Los Angeles; daughter and son-in-law Virginia and Giovanni Coglitore of Los Gatos; granddaughter Katrina Coglitore; and siblings Norma Q. Villamar, Isabel Q. Villas, Adelaida Q. Sanchez, Antonio L. Quijano, Sunegunda M. Maring and Melecio Morales.
Memorial services have been held, with interment at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Los Altos.
Dorothy Shaw
Local resident Dorothy E. Shaw died Oct. 10 at the age of 85.
Shaw, a California native, was born Aug. 26, 1914. She worked as operations manager for Dean Witter in San Jose for more than 25 years. She was an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Saratoga and served on the board of directors of the Episcopalian Homes Foundations. She was active in many community issues and organizations in Saratoga and Los Gatos and was an accomplished watercolor artist.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Carol and Richard Schmidt; granddaughters Jillene Welch and Paige Landry; and great-granddaughter Cassandra Welch.

John Buchanan
John Alexander Buchanan of Saratoga died Nov. 21 at the age of 74.
Born Feb. 27, 1925, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Buchanan graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in chemical engineering and a lifetime membership in Sigma Alpha Epsilon. During World War II, he served as a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps and flew B-24s in the Pacific Theater.
Buchanan was the founder and chief executive officer of K/Tronic Inc. He also worked in international sales for QC Optics and served as a U.S. delegate for the Computer Business Equipment Manufacturers' Association and the International Disk Drive Equipment and Materials Association. Buchanan also was active in the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Association. He served as a past board member of Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church in Saratoga and was a longtime church member.
Buchanan was predeceased by son John Alexander Buchanan III. Survivors include Rose Marie "Rori" Buchanan of Saratoga; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Kameron Buchanan of Park City, Utah; and sons Craig Buchanan of Saratoga, James Buchanan of Albuquerque, and William Buchanan of Davis, Calif.

Virginia Carrera
Virginia Carrera, a Saratoga resident for the past 70 years, died Nov. 23 in her home at the age of 83.
She was born Feb. 5, 1916, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was a homemaker who was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Saratoga and the Santa Clara University Catala Club.
Carrera was predeceased by husband Joseph Carrera. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Virginia and James Abercrombie of Placerville, Calif.; grandchildren Mary, James and Megan Abercrombie; and great-grandson Justin.
Memorial services have been held, with interment at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Santa Clara University Development Office, 500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, 95033 or to the American Cancer Society, 715 S. Bascom Ave., Suite 100, Campbell, 95008.
