    Youth Signups

    Area youth baseball and softball leagues continue to hold signups for the 2000 season:

    Girls softball--For more information about 2000 softball season for girls living in Los Gatos and Saratoga, call Cindy Battaglia at 408.354.1176.

    Saratoga Little League--The league is open to boys and girls ages 5-12 (as of July 30, 2000). For information, call 408.970.6222.

    Saratoga Pony-Colt--Pony baseball is for players ages 13-14 and Colt is open to players ages 15-16. For information, call 408.867.5170.

    Quito Little League--The league is open to boys and girls ages 5-12 (as of July 31, 2000). Players from parts of Campbell, Los Gatos and Saratoga are eligible for the league. Call 408.943.4707 or contact the league's website at www.quitoll.org for information.

    Holiday Camps

    The San Jose Parks and Recreation Department will offer holiday sports camps for youth Dec. 20-22, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. each day, at the Camden Lifetime Activities Center at Camden and Union avenues.

    The cost is $40. Basic instruction in basketball, soccer, volleyball, Frisbee and more will be offered. For more information, call 408.559.8553.

    Stanford Camp

    Stanford assistant baseball coach Mark O'Brien will host the annual Stanford baseball camps for players ages 12-18 on the Stanford campus.

    The camps will feature hitting and defense, with a special camp for pitchers ages 13-18. Camps will be held Dec. 20-22 and Dec. 27-29 at Sunken Diamond, and the cost is $110 per session.

    Roller Hockey

    The Southwest YMCA will host Saturday morning roller hockey leagues for beginner and intermediate players ages 6-11. League play begins Jan. 8, and there will be one weeknight practice each week. The cost is $80, plus program membership. For more information, call 408.370.1877, ext. 19.

    Gym open to 40+

    The small gym at Saratoga High School will be open for basketball for players age 40 and over every Tuesday, 7-9 p.m. The drop-in fee is $3 per night, and new players must show proof of age. For more information, call 408.868.1248.
