Vikes win game Rossi Martin pulled in a 20-yard touchdown pass from Lemuel Adams in overtime to lead the West Valley Community College football team to a thrilling 36-29 win over Foothill in the Kiwanis-Silicon Valley Bowl Game. Rusty Millard (Los Gatos) helped the Vikings secure the win when he recovered a Foothill fumble on the final play of the overtime period. The clubs had battled to a 29-29 tie through regulation to head into overtime. Each team would get four plays from the opponent's 25-yard line to attempt to break the tie. Chad Purcell (Monta Vista) went five yards on West Valley's first play, then Adams hit Martin for the touchdown. Foothill then drove to the West Valley two before Millard ended the Owls' hopes with the fumble recovery. Adams completed 21 of 38 passes for 397 yards and four touchdowns. He also tossed to Purcell for a two-point conversion. He hit Jason Belligan on TD tosses of 55 and 24 yards and also hooked up with Justin Wilson for 15 yards and a score before tossing the game-winner to Martin. Brian Schweitzerhof (Saratoga) booted four extra points for the Vikings, and Neal Maddox picked off a Foothill pass and raced 47 yards for a TD. The Vikings finished the year 7-4.
