    Obituaries

    John Archdeacon

    Former Saratoga resident John Robert Archdeacon died Dec. 5 following a short illness in Fairfield, where he had been residing. He was 82.

    Archdeacon was born Aug. 1, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a bombardier with the 379th Bomb Wing in the European Theater, which earned him a Distinguished Flying Cross.

    After the war, Archdeacon attended New York University Medical School. He then served in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps for 19 years as a physician and surgeon. He retired in 1968 with the rank of colonel and began a private practice in Los Gatos as an orthopedic surgeon. He retired from his practice in 1988 and moved to Fairfield in 1999.

    Archdeacon belonged to numerous medical and professional societies and organizations. He also loved flying.

    Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Molly Archdeacon of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Bob Holland of Georgia; daughter Moira Anderson of Campbell; son Douglas Archdeacon of Palo Alto; sons and daughters-in-law John and Denise Archdeacon of Coto De Caza, Richard and Lisje Archdeacon of San Jose and Kenneth and Kristin Archdeacon of San Jose; six grandchildren and sister Maureen Archdeacon of New York.

    Memorial services have been held, with interment at Los Gatos Memorial Park.
