Saratoga NewsNews BriefsPerlin family gets bigger with babyCity Manager Larry Perlin was unexpectedly hard to reach last week. The reason for his absence from City Hall? A new addition to the family. Perlin's wife gave birth Dec. 11 to a 6.5 lb. baby girl, almost two weeks ahead of the expected Dec. 21 due date and Perlin's scheduled vacation time. Perlin told staffers and councilmembers that both mother and baby were doing well. Staffers threw a baby shower for the Perlins at City Hall Dec. 16. The Perlins have yet to choose a name for their daughter. LWV will hold agenda-setting meeting in Jan.The League of Women Voters of Los Gatos, Monte Sereno and Saratoga will hold a state and local program planning meeting and soup lunch on Jan. 13 at 9:30 a.m. at League member Gladys Armstrong's home in Saratoga. Discussions will be held regarding setting the agenda for the next year and retaining or dropping current positions. Members are asked to bring copies of the membership directory to the meeting. Council on Aging seeks volunteersThe Santa Clara County Council on Aging is in need of volunteers to provide socialization and advocacy to homebound seniors. Volunteer advocates link seniors to the community through weekly visits for at least one hour. For more information or to register for the required training session, call 296-8290. The training session is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 12, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Wesley Methodist Church in Palo Alto. Meetings resume in the theaterSaratoga City Council meetings and Planning Commission meetings will return to the Council Chambers in the Civic Theater starting in January. The meetings were moved to the Saratoga Adult Care Center for the month of December so a new lighting system for the theater could be installed. The lighting system upgrade was funded through ticket surcharges for theater shows.
