'A Tribute to Émigré Children'

Simona Gilman dances to the music of Side-by-Side, the musical group from Saratoga, during the second annual Chanukah event--'A Tribute to Émigré Children'--at the Jewish Community Center in Los Gatos. The event drew some 280 participants from both the Russian émigré and secular communities. Highlighting the afternoon were musical performances by members of The Kids Club, directed by Lina Sominsky, and Kids Can Sing, under the direction of Sveta Kagan. Both groups featured Russian-Jewish youngsters. Following the program, the children participated in Israeli folk dances. Chanukah gift bags were prepared and donated to children under age 12 by Michelle Gabriel, who chaired the event.
