Letters

Reference was offensive

I do not respond to letters or articles relating to Planning Commission decisions, but Tom Linders' remarks in the Dec. 10 issue of the Saratoga News are an exception. Not because he thinks the One World School decision was "dumb." Instead, I am offended by his reference to sewing on arm bands as a means of labeling the parents of the children who will be attending the school.

Mr. Linders' equating a practice which was directed against the Jewish people for no reason other than to humiliate and dehumanize them, with an effort (perhaps misguided) to provide residents with a method for identifying cars driven by parents of schoolchildren in order to monitor compliance with the use permit is faulty.

Marcia Kaplan, J.D.
Vice chairwoman, Saratoga Planning Commission
