Santa fronts the holiday display at Allan and Bonnie Aerts' home in Monte Sereno. Over the past several weeks, Allan Aerts estimates 200 people have swung onto Danielle Place at the corner of Bicknell Road to eye between 50,000 and 75,000 lights on the Aertses' property. He says that while he has decorated his house with lanterns with garlands before, he's never attempted anything close to the extravagant scenes he has this year: life-size aliens with their space ships, nativity tableaus and classic reindeer troops. Aerts began ordering the figures from Internet sites this summer. He, Bonnie and a maintenance worker started assembly on the lawn two weeks before Thanksgiving. He says he started the project by going to Home Depot and filling three carts with extension cords. He expects to have the display up through the New Year. And next year? 'You haven't seen anything yet,' Aerts says. 'This was get-your-feet-wet year.'
