Weger leads 'Toga to victories
Saratoga wins two games in Victoria, British Columbia
By Dick Sparrer
The Saratoga basketball team took a bit of a road trip over the winter break.
But this was not cross-town trip to Prospect, or even a cross-county trek to Milpitas.
The Falcons hit the road for Victoria, British Columbia, and they completed a successful two-game swing through the Canadian province.
Saratoga outscored Lamerick Park 96-67 a night after outpointing St. Michael's 78-67. The Falcons improved to 12-1 for the year with the two victories.
Micah Weger was the big scorer for Saratoga, just as he's been all season. Weger pitched in 36 points in the win over St. Michael's, and he came back with 33 in the victory over Lamerick Park.
Weger buried three three-pointers on his way to a 36-point night in the first win. Mike Crosby had a three among his 11 points and Alan Tsai finished with seven points, also hitting a three.
Scott Snider and Tony Kau added six points apiece, Bill Wallace tossed in five and Jesse Alejandro hit two.
Saratoga outscored St. Michael's in each of the first three periods, including a 27-12 outburst in the third quarter, to take a commanding 65-35 lead into the fourth.
The Falcons bombarded Lamerick Park a night later, pouring in 27 points in the first period and 30 more in the second to lead 57-38 at intermission.
Weger led the attack with 33 points, including three threes. Crosby supported with 17 points, including a pair of threes, and A.J. Peper joined the two in double digits with 10 points.
Tsai had a three among his eight points and Alexi Sevastapoulos canned two threes to finish with six.
Snider fired in seven points, Kau and Wallace five apiece and Robert Kim three.
