Resolution Run

Is it your New Year's resolution to get back in shape? Well, then the Los Gatos Resolution Run on New Year's Day must be just the event for you.

The annual 5-mile run begins at 9 a.m. on Jan. 1 on the track at Los Gatos High School. The course includes some hills. The $22 entry fee includes a T-shirt. The cost is $13 without a shirt.

Shrine Bowl Run

The annual East-West Shrine Game returns to Stanford Stadium on Jan. 10, and so does the East-West Shrine Bowl Run.

The cost for either the 5K or 10 K run is $20 by Dec. 30 and $25 after that. The fee includes a T-shirt, game tickets and a post-race party.

Pitching clinic

Former local fast-pitch superstar Whitney Floyd will host lessons and clinics for girls softball pitchers. Floyd starred locally at Lynbrook High School and went on to All-American status at UC-Berkeley. She is currently on the coaching staff at Santa Clara University. Call 554-5063.

Saratoga Little League

The Saratoga Little League is holding signups for the 1999 season. Players must provide a birth certificate for proof of age and must provide for proof of residency (a PG&E, water or phone bill) when they register. For more information, call the league hotline at 236-2678.

Quito Little League

The Quito Little League is holding signups for the 1999 season. The league is open to boys and girls ages 5-12 (as of July 31, 1999). Players must provide a birth certificate for proof of age and parents must provide a PG&E bill and driver's license for proof of residency at registration.

Pitching program

West Valley Community College pitching coach Burch Boehner will present a winter pitching program Wednesday evenings, Jan. 27-March 10, in the West Valley gym in Saratoga. Players ages 9-10 attend at 7 p.m. and players ages 11-12 attend at 8 p.m.
