Ed Porter's 75th Party
Photographs by Hilary McMahon
Ed Porter gathered some 250 of his closest friends to his Saratoga garden June 18 to celebrate his 75th birthday. Over the years Ed's been involved in a broad range of community organizations, including the Saratoga Men's Club, where his term as president just ended, the Saratoga Sister City organization and the American Red Cross. Scrapbooks full of memories provided by guests and old friends who were unable to attend were a highlight of the festivities.

Mothers and Daughters
Photographs by Paul Troia
When daughters follow in the footsteps of community-minded moms, that's something to celebrate. That's why Mothers and Daughters of Volunteers got together for a summer luncheon July 6 at Eulipia in San Jose.
9. Busy volunteers are (from left) DIANNA GOAD, a second-grade teacher active with educational volunteer work; DONNA DuBOIS, of Cattle Baron's Ball; and LYNDA EVJEN, active with many groups and chairing this year's YWCA Professional Women's Luncheon.
10. MEGAN COAKLEY, a junior at St. Francis High School, where she is involved in community service, and her mother, PATTI ADAMS, a Grandview League member who is active with the Butter Paddle.

11. DONNA DuBOIS (left) and her daughter,
LADONN DuBOIS, a member of the Junior League and the Grandview League and a dame with Knights of St. John.

12. SUZY EVJEN donates her opera talents to charities in New York and belongs to the Daughters of the American Revolution.
