In two days, three break-ins occur in Saratoga neighborhoods
There were a rash of burglaries last week with three break-ins taking place on Wednesday and Thursday night.
The first two occurred consecutively in the Fruitvale neighborhood with the third in the Three Oaks Court gated community. One suspect is believed to be the sole perpetrator of all three burglaries, as the method of entry and goods taken appeared to be identical.
The break-ins occurred while the residents were at home at the opposite end of the house. The perpetrator appeared to enter through open doors and windows near the master bedroom and selectively stole jewelry. Nothing in the rooms was ransacked or broken. There have been no witnesses to any of the burglaries. Neighbors of the targeted residences were alerted immediately.
Suspects nabbed
Two of the three suspects believed to be related to the Harleigh Drive burglaries have been arrested and taken custody. The identifying red Jetta was found and impounded. The two vehicles stolen from one of the Harleigh Drive residences have been recovered. Both were found in Milpitas, the newer model completely torched and the second in its original condition.
Vehicle BurglaryJuly 25, 10 p.m. on Saratoga Avenue. A car parked in a lot away from the victim's home had its rear passenger-side window broken out. The dash had been torn apart to get to the stereo system. The entire stereo unit and 20 CDs were taken. The attending officer located latent fingerprints from the plastic center console. There is no further evidence.
Residential BurglaryJuly 24, 7 a.m. on Big Basin Way. The suspect forced the front door of the residence open while the owners were away. The only item taken was a Sentry Safe, which contained jewelry. The suspect removed the safe by taking it through the master bedroom sliding glass door and lowering it onto the driveway via the balcony terrace. The victim is not sure how much jewelry was contained in the safe. There are no suspects at this time.
Use of Personal IDJuly 24, 10 a.m. on Aquino Way. The suspect went into a local bank and attempted to cash a check by giving the teller the victim's Social Security number and providing a false ID card with the victim's name and address. The victim has never given anyone permission to use the Social Security number or any other identifying information.
Reckless DrivingJuly 24, 11:08 p.m. on Prospect Road. A red Jetta was seen speeding through a residential neighborhood. Police followed the car as it failed to stop at numerous stop signs and maintained its speed of 50 mph in a 25 mph zone. When police attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver parked and fled on foot. The passenger followed on foot. Both suspects were caught and booked into the main jail.
