Two candidates make it official
As of press time, Saratoga had two official
candidates for the Nov. 5 election of three
city council members.
Mayor Nick Streit and challenger Andrew
Barnes each filed papers and paid fees last
week to prepare for the election season. Also
last week, two more individuals retrieved
papers for runs of their ownJohn Keenan and
Kathleen King. They join incumbent Councilman
John Mehaffey and newcomers Rick Kumar and
Vino Malhotra, who have also taken the forms.
Vice Mayor Evan Baker, also up for
reelection, has not yet retrieved the forms.
The deadline to file the forms is Aug. 9.
However, if all the incumbents do not file
the forms to run for reelection, then the
filing deadline is extended to Aug. 14.

Celebration! plans continue
The Saratoga Chamber of Commerce is getting
ready for this year's Celebrate Saratoga!
street dance, and it's inviting others to get
a piece of the action.
Saratoga resident Judy Puthuff already has.
She's the winner of the Chamber's contest for
its poster design, which will feature her
watercolor of the Chamber office and Saratoga
History Museum buildings. The posters will be
used to advertise the Sept. 21 event, as well
as other community events sponsored by
nonprofit organizations either a week before
or after Celebrate! For more information
about the Chamber's offer and to be included
in its community events calendar, call the
Chamber at 408.867.0753 by Aug. 12.
