Two Quito all-star teams go 2-2 in District 12 play

Winning Little League baseball games at the
district level is never easy.
But two of the five all-star teams from the
Quito Little League managed to win two games
apiece at District 12 tournaments played in
the area.
The Quito 12-year-old all-stars and the
league's 10-year-old all-stars each posted
2-2 records in the recently completed
postseason play.
Making up the 12-year-old club were Nikolas
Balog, who blasted a grand slam in a win over
Los Gatos, Brandon Carpenter, Nicholas Clark,
Zachary Cook, Alex Juull, Nicholas Kinder,
Chris King, Stephen McInnis, David Messer,
Ryan Picchi, Jeff Sloan and Ryan Takaki. The
manager was Greg Takaki, and his coaches were
Steve Messer and Ron McInnis.
The 10-year-old all-stars also played .500
ball in the district tourney. On the squad
were Alexander Balog, Scott Bendorf, Benjamin
Collier, Michael Combs, Anthony Denevi,
Stefan Eckhardt, Michael Economy, Myles
Johansen, Fionn King, Drew Messer,
Christopher Palmer, Greg Plauck and Allen Van
Dyke. The manager was Mike Combs, and his
coaches were Kim Johansen and Pat Denevi.
The Quito 11-year-old all-stars lost two
straight in the District 12 tournament. The
team members were Colin Carney, Charlie
Chapman, Dylan Fish, Thomas Harvey, Jonathan
Kim, Matthew Kirwan, Andrew McCarthy, Keith
Nyberg, Kevin Rourke, Abner Simmons, Jonathan
Wahl and Matthew Williams. Managing the squad
was Jon Williams, and his coaches were Neal
Carney and Peter Kirwan.
Playing for the 9-year-old all-star team,
which posted a 1-2 tournament record, were
Stephen Economy, Brett Kentera, Justin Leong,
Adrian Medina, Brett Morales, Ryan Mulligan,
Arya Parhar, Kyle Peck, Richard Prigatano,
Brandon Scheff, Ryan Seid and Tyler von
Richter. The manager was Kirk Kentera, and
his coaches were Greg Morales and Clay Leong.
The Quito 8-year-olds all-star team, 1-2 in
tourney play, was made up of Andrew Barton,
Daniel Boudinot, Nicholas Conroy, Brayden
Deskins, James Ferkel, Kyle Gustlin, Stacey
Haugen, Casey Mintz, Aaron Newman, Brent
Ng-Parish, Kyle Payne, Brian Tashjian and
Nicholas Wahl. The manager was Ron Brandon,
and his coaches were Matt Saul and Phil
Sisneros.
