Jazz Festival gala
Photographs by Paul Troia
"Tiny Bubbles and Big Stars" was the theme for this year's opening night gala for the 13th annual AT&T Jazz Festival in San Jose. The sold-out event kicked off the music festival and raised money for the San Jose Jazz Society. More than 500 music enthusiasts celebrated in style at the San Jose Repertory Theatre and enjoyed the premiere performance of the San Jose Jazz Orchestra, conducted by Dennis Wilson and featuring Count Basie Orchestra vocalist Jamie David.

Cattle Baron preview
Photographs by Robert Solis
The Cattle Baron's Ball won't happen until Sept. 28, but it's not too early for members of the sponsoring Grand View League to think about what they'll wear to the gala fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. So a fashion show featuring attire from The Silver Buckle was just the ticket when the 2002 Provisional Class presented its Summer Social and Barbecue Aug. 3 at the Los Gatos estate of Orla MacLean. More than 125 members and their guests attended the event, which was themed "Fashion Roundup at the Tropicana Ranch."
