Longtime Saratogans Melville and Jane Hodge celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a July 13 party hosted by their children at Trader Vic's restaurant in Palo Alto.
The Hodges have lived in Saratoga since 1956, four years after their July 5 marriage at the Rocky River Methodist Church in Rocky River, Ohio. Melville is the retired founder and CEO of Southwall Technologies and Technicon Data Systems. He also worked for Lockheed for 17 years, 13 as a general management consultant and director.
Jane is a past president of the Saratoga Foothill Club and the Saratoga Federated Church's Women's Auxiliary and a member of the PEO Sisterhood and Delta Gamma sorority. She is also a teaching leader with her church's Bible study fellowship and a volunteer for environmental causes. Although she holds a degree in chemical engineering from Northwestern University, she has devoted herself since marriage to being a homemaker, mother and volunteer.
Joining the Hodges at their anniversary party were their four children: Rebecca Clewett of Cupertino, Sue Johnson of Saratoga, Tom Hodge of Wellesley, Mass., and Barbara Williams of Grants Pass, Ore. The couple also has 11 grandchildren: Sarah, Jenny, Dave and Jeff Clewett; Bonnie, Debbie and Robert Johnson; Peter Hodge; and Zachary, Jonathan and Elizabeth Williams.
