Saratogans are Hopkins grads

Saratoga residents Robert Lathanh and Jennifer Hsing-Yi were among the 1,000 seniors to graduate from Johns Hopkins University this past spring. Lathanh, the son of Kim Lathanh, received a degree in computer science. Hsing-Yi, daughter of Stephen Lin, received a degree in natural sciences and public health.


Choi, Yu earn master's degrees

Lisa Choi and Harry Yu of Saratoga each received master's of science degrees this past spring at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The two were among the 1,300 students to receive master's degrees.


Braunstein is accepted

Brian Braunstein of Saratoga has been accepted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Braunstein was selected by the 8-year-old society for his academic excellence as an undergraduate at UC-San Diego. A ceremony will be held to honor inductees at the campus this fall.


Students need work permits

Students who are under 18 and locally employed should remind their bosses that it's work permit time again. Five days after school begins, all students under the age of 18 are required by child labor laws to have a work permit to be employed.


Pahler graduates from Whitman

Brett Pahler of Saratoga was one of 340 students to graduate from Whitman College this past spring. Pahler, the son of Arnold and Anne Pahler, received a bachelor's degree in sociology.
