Lamble a winner
Saratoga's Kelly Lamble, 11, won the girls 12 singles championship at the Fila South Bay Junior Championships held Sept. 2122 and 2829 at the Courtside Club in Los Gatos and West Valley College in Saratoga. Lamble is a student at Redwood Middle School.
Softball league
Registration begins this week for a "fun" fall coed softball league that plays its games on Sundays at Hathaway Park in San Jose. There will be sign-ups and games on Oct. 13, 11 a.m., for players from beginner to D division skill level. The cost is $12 for registration and $4 per game. For more information, call 408.921.2001.
Masters swimming
A masters swimming program for those age 19 and older is offered Monday through Thursday, 78 p.m., at the Los Gatos High School pool. The program features regular structured workouts for swimmers of all ability levels. The cost is $40 per month. Punt, Pass & Kick
The first round of the annual Punt, Pass & Kick contest will be held Oct. 13, 2 p.m., at the Camden Community Center, 3369 Union Ave. in San Jose. Boys and girls ages 815 (as of Dec. 31, 2002) are encouraged to participate. Competitors must supply copies of their birth certificates.

Volleyball tryouts
The Point Break Volleyball Club will hold tryouts for the 2003 season in November at Saratoga High School.
The club, under the direction of Westmont girls coach Peter Kim, will hold tryouts on Nov. 16, 79 p.m., for girls in the 12-and-under, 13-and-under and 14-and-under divisions, and on Nov. 17, 79 p.m., for girls in the 15-and-under, 16-and-under and 18-and-under divisions.
There is a one-time tryout fee of $25, but players can try out for multiple teams. Players must arrive an hour before tryouts with insurance, medical and Social Security information, and there will be a short parents meeting before each tryout.

The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame (BASHOF) is accepting grant applications from youth organizations and schools interested in purchasing new sports equipment.
