Cowboys in Paradise

What do the well-dressed cattle baron and baroness wear to the ball when the theme is "Rawhide Roundup at Tropicana Ranch"? Cowboy hats and flower leis paired up with cowboy boots and flowered shirts and plenty of rawhide at the Cattle Baron's Ball Sept. 28. The event, staged in a Moffett Field hangar appropriately decorated for the theme, is the annual fundraiser sponsored by Grand View League to raise funds for the Cancer Society.

Singing Opera's Praises

Members of the San Jose Opera Guild gathered Sept. 26 at the Los Altos Country Club to celebrate the opening of both the San Francisco and San Jose opera seasons. Established in 1947, the guild supports Opera San José and the San Francisco Opera financially and through education programs, including a lecture series.
