Jeff Schaller a Whitworth grad

Jeff Schaller of Saratoga recently graduated from Whitworth College with a bachelor's degree in psychology. The graduation ceremony was the 112th for the private Washington university.


Gold medalist visits Saratoga

Olympic gold medalist Kerri Strug will visit Saint Andrew's School Oct. 24 in support of Red Ribbon Week. Strug, who won a gold medal in gymnastics at the 1996 Olympic Games, will give a presentation on the importance of setting positive goals and living a healthy, drug-free life. A reception will follow the event.


Saratoga High School in need

Saratoga High School is asking for donations. The health office is in need of a Physician's Desk Reference dated later than 1997 and a new refrigerator is in needed. To donate either item, call Assistant Principal Dan Folwer at 867-3411, ext. 210.


Students win for fire safety

Argonaut Elementary students participated in essay writing and drawing contests for Fire Safety Week. Eleven students were recognized for their efforts during a Fire Safety assembly
Oct. 11.

Kindergarten winners were Sabrina Shen (first place) and Chandni Patel (second place). First and second grade winners were Prisicilla Chu (first), Matthew Lee (second) and Yifat Amir (third). Third and fourth grade winners were Shivani Chadha (first), Belinda Kwan (second) and Alison Jean Buchanan (third). Fifth grade winners were Samantha Pack, who took the grand prize, Amy Carlton (first) and Richard Tang (second).
