Some Like It Haute

Photographs by Paul Troia
The Junior League of San Jose staged "Some Like It Haute," two nights of fashion and glitter Oct. 10 and 11 at the Fairmont Hotel. Those attending Friday's fashion show fundraiser, featuring styles by Nordstrom, dressed to the nines for the black-tie affair. Kathy Graham chaired the 12th bienniel extravaganza, assisted by Kristie Driscoll and Marcia Riedel. The Junior League, more than 800 members strong, trains female volunteers to improve the community through leadership, fundraising and nonprofit assistance.

Bridge to the Future
Photographs by Paul Troia
The Art Museum of Los Gatos was the setting Oct. 10 for a reception honoring former Olympians and designers whose work makes up "The Bridge to the Future," the Olympic poster project now on exhibit. The project was coordinated by Rick Tharp of Tharp Did It in Los Gatos. Tharp was the "design umpire" of the project, which took some two years to complete. The posters are part of the package the Bay Area Sports Organizing Committee (BASOC) will use to promote the Bay Area's effort to bring the 2012 Olympics here.
