California Youth Symphony features local performers
The award-winning California Youth Symphony, conducted by Maestro Leo Eylar, has returned from its French tour and is opening its 51st season with performances on Nov. 10 at Flint Center in Cupertino and Nov. 17 at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center. Among the preteen and teenage musicians are 16 Saratogans.

One of the program's highlights is a Brahms piano solo by 15-year-old Natasha Paremski of Fremont, who has won the CYS' Young Artist Competition and the International Young Solo Musicians Competition, and several national and international awards, including the Bronislaw Kaper Award. A CD released just this fall, Paremski Rose, features Paremski playing alongside the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra.

The CYS November concert program also includes Symphonic Metamorphosis by Hindemith and Fancy Free by Bernstein. The orchestra consists of 105 musicians between the ages of 12 and 18 who attend 39 schools from San Francisco to Morgan Hill.

Tickets, available at the door or from CYS members, are $12 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens. For more information or directions to the concert venues, call 650.325.6666 or visit www.cys.org.
