Leach at Purdue
Eryn Leach of Saratoga is a junior middle hitter on the women's volleyball team at Purdue. Leach, a four-year starter at Mitty High School, is the only player on the Purdue squad not from the Midwest. The junior is a starter for the Boilermakers this fall after starting 10 matches as a sophomore.
Masiello scores
Becky Masiello of Saratoga scored two goals and added an assist in Wellesley College's 9-0 field hockey win last week. The senior now has 13 goals and nine assists this season for 35 points, and her 120 career assists is a new Wellesley College school record. Wellesley, located in Massachusetts, is now 12-3 for the year and 6-1 in conference play.
De Anza reunion
The De Anza College football program will hold a 35-year reunion on Nov. 16, 10 a.m.3 p.m., with a barbecue and ceremony on the football stadium grounds at the school's Cupertino campus.
All former players are encouraged to attend, and there will be a special awards ceremony for the 1979 National Championship team at halftime of the De Anza-Hartnell game.
The day begins with brunch at 10 a.m., alumni ceremonies at noon, the De AnzaHartnell kickoff at 1 p.m., awards ceremonies at halftime and a barbecue following the game.

Panthers roll to win
Alex Estrada threw for more than 200 yards and a couple of touchdowns and he also returned a pass interception for a TD to lead the Panthers of Los GatosSaratoga Pop Warner football to a 40-7 win over San Lorenzo Valley in the first round of the league playoffs.
Estrada hit Trevor Vlay with touchdown passes for 50 and 75 yards to lead the offense. He also picked off a pass and ran it back 60 yards for a score.
Nick Miller led the ground attack in the win. Miller, Chris LaBouff and Chase Hayhurst all ran for touchdowns and Kevin Kephart kicked a pair of 2-point conversions. Vlay, Nate Burke, Brady Cook and Nick Hirschman made fine catches of Estrada passes, and the offensive line provided the pass protection the quarterback needed.
LaBouff was the tackling leader for the Panthers, who improved to 7-2.
Little League sign-ups
The Saratoga Little League will hold sign-ups for the 2003 season on Nov. 16, 9 a.m.noon, in the cafeteria at Argonaut School.
The league is open to boys and girls ages 512 (T-ball through major divisions) and there will also be sign-ups for Pony League (ages 1314). Players must bring a birth certificate and a recent utility or telephone bill as proof of current residence.

Girls soccer
Soccer training will begin soon for girls in the under-11 age group planning to play in the 2003 spring season. Jorge Espinoza, a soccer professional with more than 20 years of experience, will lead the training sessions, which will help girls develop skills to play at every level, from recreation to class 1. Softball tryouts
