DA returns computers to fire station
By Mandy Major
The Saratoga Fire Department has regained ownership of computers and files seized by the Santa Clara County District Attorney's office Oct. 30. The information was returned to the station on Nov. 8.

"We are back to normal," said Assistant Fire Chief Ron Vega. "We are wrapping up the final installation, and it was actually a great opportunity to clean up."

Vega said the station was able to talk briefly with the district attorney, although the motives for the investigation and what the investigation exactly pertains to were not available. Information will not be able to be released by the district attorney until the investigation is over and the files can be opened to the public.

Vega did, however, allude to the possibility that the investigation might not pertain to the Saratoga Fire Station per se but rather focus on the political consultant firm, The Lew Edwards Group, that provided campaign services to the fire district during its 2000 bid for a $6 million bond to rebuild the fire station.
