Students performing in 'Cafeteria Closet'
Saratoga High School's drama department just completed five performances of The Crucible by Arthur Miller. All performances were in the Saratoga High School "Little Theatre." What a quaint misnomer that is! "Leaky Cafeteria Closet" or "Crowded Stuffy Box" might be a better fit.
Imagine attending a play or even a movie in a converted cafeteria seating area built in 1960 with a roof that leaks and a ceiling with stained and damaged tiles. Imagine sitting in stackable chairs that are placed so close to the stage that you feel like you are literally onstage with the actors. Our talented children need and deserve better.
Saratoga High School and the community need the new Performing Arts and Lecture (PAL) Center. By pitching in and helping to finance vital community projects such as the PAL we will have a place worthy of our children's talents in drama, music, band, public speaking and dance.
Until then, let's hope for dry weather.
