Softball sign-ups
The Los GatosSaratoga Girls Softball Association will continue sign-ups for the spring 2003 season through Jan. 15. Girls ages 714 are eligible for the recreational league. For more information or a registration packet, call the league's hotline at 408.291.2148 or email LGSGSA@att.net.
Sharks are third
The Sharks, a girls under-12 soccer team from Saratoga AYSO, finished third in a recent Area 2J soccer tournament. Team members included Stephanie Borsum, Ashley Charette, Sarah Destin, Lauren Ducote, Katie Eulau, Laurel Foster, Sarah Foxcroft, Sarah Hansen, Emma Garrison, Kelly Lamble, Lauren Opatrny, Kristina Rees, Anna Schroeder and Alexandra Sclavos. The team was coached by Kim Foster and Robert Ducote.
Christmas Cup
The Homestead Christmas Cup IX boys soccer tournament continues this week on area fields. Upcoming games include:

Girls soccer
Soccer training will begin soon for girls in the under-11 age group planning to play in the 2003 spring season. Jorge Espinoza, a soccer professional with more than 20 years of experience, will lead the training sessions, which will help girls develop skills to play at every level, from recreation to class 1. Youth grants
The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame (BASHOF) is accepting grant applications from youth organizations and schools interested in purchasing new sports equipment.
The BASHOF Youth Fund has provided nearly $2 million to more than 350 sports organizations in the 11 counties of the Bay Area since its inception in 1981.
