Saratoga resident Christopher E. Taaffe died Jan. 3 at the age of 64.

Descended from a family of early California settlers, Taaffe was born in Sunnyvale and grew up in Los Altos. He was a graduate of Bellarmine College Preparatory and the University of Oregon, where he earned both a bachelor's degree and a law degree.

A Saratogan since 1972, Taaffe maintained a law practice in San Jose for more than 35 years. He also enjoyed playing golf with his many friends and colleagues.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Leigh Taaffe of Saratoga; children Koren, Brandon and Andrew Taaffe; sister Julie Stephenson of Saratoga; and brothers Michael Taaffe of Los Altos and Daniel Taaffe of San Francisco.
