DRUNK IN PUBLIC—Jan. 24 at 5 p.m. on Big Basin Way. A suspect was detained by a liquor store for the theft of a liquor bottle. The suspect showed symptoms of intoxication, such as slow, slurred speech, unsteady balance and failure to follow directions. The suspect was booked without incident into the main jail.
POSSESSION—Jan. 24 at 1:11 a.m. on Sea Gull Way. An officer stopped a vehicle for a moving violation. Upon contact with the driver, the officer detected a strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After a consensual search, the officer found 34 small plastic baggies, 11 of which contained 1.1 grams of marijuana each. The suspect also had $110 in various bills in his wallet. The suspect was arrested and booked for possession of marijuana for sale.
GRAND THEFT—Jan. 23 at 5:30 p.m. on Brookwood Lane. A woman had workers come into her residence to clean stone in her master bathroom. After the crew left, the woman noticed one pair of diamond earrings and one pair of cubic zirconium earrings were missing. The company denied that the workers stole the items; however, the victim believes it was the workers.
DRUNK IN PUBLIC—Jan. 23 at 5:15 p.m. on Paseo Presada Avenue. An officer observed an adult male walking slowly along the road. When the man lost his balance several times, the officer contacted him. The man had a strong odor of alcohol about him and red, watery eyes. He failed several field sobriety tests and was tested to have a blood alcohol content of .158. The man was booked without incident.
AUTO BURGLARY—Jan. 21 at 12:25 p.m. on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. A woman called the sheriff's office to report that an unknown person had smashed her vehicle window and stolen her purse. Simultaneously, two restaurant workers called to report two males throwing items from a purse into their Dumpster. The restaurant staff provided a description and partial plate number of the suspects' vehicle. The two suspects were then stopped and identified by police as the persons throwing items into the Dumpster. The men were arrested for auto burglary and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.
POSSESSION—Jan. 21 at noon on Saratoga Avenue. An officer stopped a pickup truck for having an improper insurance sticker. When the officer approached the vehicle, a strong odor of marijuana was detected. When asked, the driver admitted that he was carrying marijuana. The driver produced a metal box containing .8 grams of marijuana. A partially smoked marijuana cigarette was also found. The driver was cited without incident.
