Olympiad of the Arts is a competition that encourages creative and performing arts students in college and high school to compete by showcasing their talents. Students compete in a variety of categories--acting, dance choreography, vocal and piano performance, photography, and poetry and short story writing.
The competition is open to students at a community college, lower-division four-year college and high school students who are residents of Santa Clara County.

Applications are due to the city clerk by 5 p.m. on Feb. 28. There are only two planning commission meetings left (Feb. 12 and 26) that applicants can attend before that date. For more information, call 408.868.1269.
Flying Doctors receive more medical supplies
Los Medicos Voladores (The Flying Doctors) recently accepted a donation of $42,000 in medical supplies from Hackett Enterprises. Larry Hackett and Dan Cripes of Hackett Enterprises presented the donation to Don Wolf, chairman of the board of directors of Los Medicos Voladores and a former West Valley College board trustee, at its Feb. 5 meeting. The supplies will go toward medical mission clinics in Central America and Mexico.
Los Medicos Voladores has been providing medical, dental, optometric and audiology services to remote villages for 27 years. Three to five airplanes leave Northern California each month with a team of doctors, equipment and supplies headed to small villages in Mexico.
