The Montalvo Valentine Ball on Feb. 7 offered an evening of dining and dancing, along with an auction at the Villa. The annual event is a fundraiser for Montalvo's education and outreach program, which provides arts experiences for students and teachers in Santa Clara County. The gala raised some $98,000, an increase of approximately $8,000 over the previous year.

Culture Clash Preview

Prior to the Feb. 7 opening night performance of Culture Clash in AmeriCCa at the San José Repertory Theatre, guests gathered at Scott's Seafood for a preview by the performers and a reception. Among the guests was San Jose Mayor Ron Gonzales, who later took his lumps from Culture Clash, which devoted a portion of its show specifically to San Jose.
