Students shared a half-day with their grandparents during Sacred Heart School's annual Grandparents Day on Feb. 7. The day began with a morning Mass and then continued with a reception in the gym. Students also gave their grandparents tours of the school and their own classrooms. Here, first-grader Alanna Thurman (left) shows her grandmother Vivian Cote some of her schoolwork, while her sister Makenzie Thurman looks on. This is the sixth year that Sacred Heart has held the event, which has evolved from an attendance of 80 to an estimated 225 grandparents this year. In November, the school sent out invitations to the guests, addressed from the grandchildren. Some students, whose grandparents are deceased or were unable to travel to the school, invited other guests. Many grandparents arrange their yearly trip to the family around the day, according to Principal Jane Daigle. 'And the kids are walking on air. For a lot of them, it's a great time for them to show off their school to their grandparents.'
