Gala goes Mardi Gras

Beads and ballet will be quite a festive mix come March 8, when Ballet San Jose Silicon Valley holds its annual gala celebration, 'Evening in the French Quarter.' Council President Joanne Meninger of San Jose (left) and committee members Marie LoPresto of Saratoga (middle) and Kathy Tuttle of Los Gatos have cooked up a Bourbon Streetinspired night that will feature all things Mardi Gras—jazz, dancing, cocktails and Cajun eats. There will also be a live and silent auction, as well as company dancers performing scenes from the 2003 production 'District Storyville.' Tickets are $195 each. Sponsor tables are $3,500 and donor tables $2,500. Proceeds will be used to support performing artists of the ballet and Symphony San Jose Silicon Valley. The gala begins at 6 p.m. at the Fairmont San Jose, 170 S. Market St., San Jose. For reservations and ticket information, call 408.358.3373 or visit www.balletsanjose.org.
