POSSESSION OF ILLEGAL DRUG—Feb. 27, 1:40 p.m. between Quito Road and Sobey Road. An officer stopped a vehicle that had a missing front license plate. The officer smelled marijuana and asked the three male juveniles if they were carrying it in the car. The passengers confessed and handed over a plastic bag containing 1 ounce of marijuana.

GRAND THEFT—Feb. 25, 2:30 p.m. on Herriman Avenue and Saratoga- Sunnyvale Road. A female student reported that an unknown person stole her Toshiba laptop computer, a zip disk and a floppy disk that was left in a classroom. No evidence was collected, and the suspect remains at large.

FALSE IDENTITY—Feb. 25, 10:30 a.m. on Sea Gull Way. An unknown person stole mail from a residence's mailbox. The person took a check and altered the name and amount of payment listed and passed the check to an unauthorized party.

ANIMAL CRUELTY—Feb. 23, 2:30 p.m. Residents on Canyon View Drive deprived their three canines of food, water and medical care. The Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority reported that the dogs had discharge coming from their eyes and open sores on their legs. The dogs were taken to get medical attention.

VANDALISM—Feb. 21, 4:40 p.m. on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. A juvenile male opened his car door to enter his vehicle and slammed the door into the side of the adjacent vehicle. The victim demanded an apology from the suspect, but the suspect denied any wrongdoing and fled from the scene.

PETTY THEFT—Feb. 21, 11:25 p.m. on Old Tree Way. A woman was eating inside a restaurant when she realized her phone had been stolen. According to her phone company, the suspect made numerous calls but did not reveal the telephone numbers. The victim was advised to wait to see her statement.

ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING—Feb. 20, 6 p.m. on Orchard Road. Two friends were playing war using BB guns inside a home when the juvenile suspect accidentally hit his friend in the head. The victim was taken to the hospital to treat his head wound.

STRONG-ARMED ROBBERY—Feb. 19, 12:45 a.m. on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. Three males and one female entered a Safeway and stole a bottle of beer and a bottle of rum. The suspects were confronted by the store manager. One of the male suspects hit the manager with his fist and elbow and ran away but was caught later on the street. The other suspects were detained by store employees.
