Symphony plays
at St. Andrew's
The Saratoga Symphony will perform in concert at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church on March 16 at 3 p.m. The program includes pieces such as The Wasps Suite and Hungarian Rhapsody. Several soloists and the St. Andrew's church choir will make special appearances.
Community band
at Saratoga High
The Saratoga Community Band will perform along with members of the Saratoga High School band on March 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Saratoga High School. The concert is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit the high school band's 2003 summer European tour and participation in the Vienna International Youth and Music Festival.
The Saratoga Community Band will hold a second performance on May 18 in Saratoga's Wildwood Park. The event is free and will begin at 4 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic lunches and comfortable chairs. For more information, visit www.saratogaband.org.
Black Brothers
at Carriage House
The renowned Irish trio the Black Brothers will be fiddling and crooning to their hearts' content March 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Carriage House on the Montalvo estate. Tickets are $4045 and are available by calling 408.961.5858. Montalvo is located at 15400 Montalvo Road, Saratoga, 95071.
Plaid, Good Doc
coming to town
Theater is a hot ticket this month in Saratoga, as West Valley Light Opera's musical Forever Plaid continues through early April. Tickets are $18 to $22, with performances on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Visit www.wvlo.org for details.
West Valley College is presenting The Good Doctor March 14 through 23 at West Valley College's Chamber Theatre. The play is an adaptation by Neil Simon of eight humorous stories by Russian author Anton Chekhov. Performances are March 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22 at 8 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on March 16 and 23. Tickets are available at the door for $8 general admission, $6 for seniors 65 and older and students with identification. Parking is $2 in quarters. For more information, call 408.741.2058.
