School district layoffs Tax break WVC layoffs
Faced with a deadline to notify employees of potential termination, the Saratoga Union School District has made the decision to eliminate 29 full-time equivalent positions in its four schools.  More Residents and merchants who own historical buildings in Saratoga may soon be eligible to participate in state-sponsored legislation that would give them a significant tax break.  More West Valley-Mission Community College District officials have made the decision to give layoff notices to more than 92 full-time academic staff members and six classified staff members at West Valley College.  More

New entrepreneurs Commissioners retire Maestro Supper
Tired of the pink slips and financial uncertainty that seem to have become par for Silicon Valley companies, many former high-tech executives are taking their business knowledge and putting it to use for themselves—by becoming entrepreneurs.  More Saratoga residents will soon be seeing new faces on the city's planning commission, as four of the seven commissioners have announced their resignations when their four-year terms expire at the end of March.  More The Mirassou Winery will be offering gourmands a chance to enjoy a candelit five-course dinner in its cellar room on April 5 and again on Mother's Day, May 11.  More
