The Los Gatos­Saratoga Girls Softball Association will hold opening day ceremonies on March 29, 8 a.m., at the Blossom Hill Elementary School softball field. A special guest from last year's College World Series will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Players will be in full uniform for the team introductions, and opening day games will begin at 11 a.m.


Warrior night

The Saratoga Stake for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host a night with the Golden State Warriors on April 8, 7:30 p.m., at the Oakland Arena. The Warriors will play the Utah Jazz, and tickets are priced at $22 for the lower level and $10 for the upper level. All orders must be received by April 4. Pro skaters

Professional skaters Steve Caballero and Colt Cannon will visit the Atomic Garage at the Great Mall in Milpitas on March 29, 10 a.m.­9 p.m., to promote the Crime Inc. clothing line.


Cat's Hill

The 29th annual Cat's Hill Criterium will return to Los Gatos on May 10. The event is hosted each year by the Los Gatos Bicycle Racing Club and sanctioned by the U.S. Cycling Federation.


Scholarship

The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame is now accepting entries from high school juniors and seniors in the annual Art Rosenbaum Sports Writing Scholarship program.

Hall of fame

Tennis star Rosie Casals, Stanford and Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway, Warriors great Tom Meschery and record-setting jockey Willie Shoemaker will be inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame during ceremonies to be held March 20 at The Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco.
