Cinequest's wrap-up gala

After 11 days of films, awards and parties, Cinequest fans and celebrities came together for a final gala March 8 at A.P. Stump's in downtown San Jose.

Those who showed up during the festival to accept Maverick awards were Val Kilmer, Stephen Frears, William H. Macy, Lupe Ontiveros, Ralph Bakshi and James Woods.

The Santa Clara County branch of the National Association of American Pen Women staged its annual Celebrity Luncheon Feb. 8 at the San Jose Elks Club. Valley women in the arts were honored.
