Rees
Dr. Harding Rees died March 16. He was 86.
Rees was born July 24, 1916, in Omaha, Neb. He graduated from Yale University in 1939, attended the University of Nebraska Medical School and graduated from the California San Francisco Medical School in 1943. He had a residency in radiology at UCSF in 1950. From 1950 to 1981, he practiced radiology at San Jose Medical Center. Rees was a member of the Santa Clara Medical Society, served as president of the Santa Clara County Tuberculosis Society and was a fellow of the American College of Radiology. He was also a charter member of the American College of Nuclear Physicians and was a Branson Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha. He also served as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps.
Rees moved to Los Gatos in 1951. After forming a neighborhood association and becoming a key player in limiting the height of the El Gato Penthouse Apartments on E. Main Street, Rees realized his call to public service. He served on the planning commission board from 1963 to 1968. He is survived by daughter Carolyn Rees, M.D., of Caldwell, Idaho, and son Daniel Rees of Los Gatos. Rees was preceded in death by his wife Marie Mattingly, whom he married in 1940. Private services have been held.
Stryker
William "Bill" Stryker Sr. died at his home March 30. He was 69.
Stryker, born in San Francisco, lived in Los Gatos for 35 years until his move to San Martin in February 2003. He was a member of Christ Child Church in Los Gatos, the Cupertino Host Lions Club and Shelter Bay Yacht Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, working on racecars and golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly Stryker of San Martin; brothers Harry Stryker of Washington, Dan Stryker of Arizona, Tom Stryker of Nevada, and Rich Stryker of Sutter Creek, Calif.; sister Mary Wetmore of Washington; daughters and son-in-laws Lori and Chris Bradford of Morgan Hill and Teresa and Darryl Adair of Morgan Hill; sons Bill Stryker of San Martin and Greg Stryker of Los Gatos; and seven grandchildren.

Tack
Marionette Hershey Tack died of natural causes March 12. She was 84.
Hershey Tack was born in San Francisco on Jan. 28, 1919. She received her bachelor's degree from San José State University, a master's from Stanford University and a Ph.D. from Brigham Young University. She was a professor of secondary education at San José State University. In addition to her professorship, Hershey Tack taught English at Soquel High School in Santa Cruz, public speaking at De Anza College in Cupertino and technical writing at Provo College in Utah, and assisted English classes at Los Gatos High School. She also acted as a secretary to Los Gatos violinist Yehudi Menuhn, spending 30 years doing his correspondence and helping him with speech writing.
Hershey Tack was a resident of Los Gatos for 56 years. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert Tack, daughter Colise Delzell, son Christopher Tack, and three grandchildren, all of Los Gatos.

Thompson
Jean Grace Thompson died of natural causes March 25. She was 74.
Thompson was born in New York on June 5, 1928. She resided in the Los Gatos and Capitola areas for the last 46 years of her life. She is survived by husband Herb Thompson of Los Gatos, sons Bill and Ed Thompson, daughter Bev Wallace, and two grandchildren. Thompson was preceded in death by her grandson Adam Thompson.
