Two Saratoga girls on Sunnyvale stage
Nine-year-old Amber Arroyo of Saratoga Elementary and 10-year-old Sarah Bernosky of Country Lane Elementary have been selected to take the stage in the California Theatre Center's production of Once Upon A Bedtime. Both performers participated in the center's conservatory program, which hosts summer and Saturday workshops throughout the school year. In the summer, students participate in a four-week workshop that covers set and costume creation, production and acting. Bernosky has been a conservatory student for two years, and Arroyo attended her first workshop last summer.
Although California Theatre Center offers professional productions, top students from the conservatory program are sometimes brought in to help round out a cast. The two girls play the daughters of a family, set within a story based on classic tales such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Little Red Riding Hood. Showtimes are April 28 through May 2 at 9:30 and 11 a.m. at the Sunnyvale Community Center Theatre and from May 5 to 9 at 9:30 and 11 a.m. at the Louis B. Mayer Theatre at Santa Clara University.
