Saratoga students win award for high-tech design

Through the Tech Challenge 2003, the Tech Museum of Innovation charged local students with designing a device that would climb above the tree line of the Amazon rainforest to obtain leaf specimens that would help scientists study the effects of global warming and deforestation. School district layoffs Saratoga on TV Housing standards
On May 15 the Los Gatos­Saratoga Union High School District will have sent final layoff notices to teachers and administrators, eliminating almost 13 positions for the next school year.  More The new TV show Saratoga Today—hosted by city councilman Norman Kline and Judith Lawrenson of the children's show The Reading Room—is bringing residents up to date on issues that affect Saratoga.  More The city of Saratoga is making strides in complying with the housing standards set by the Association of Bay Area Governments, despite a long battle and unsuccessful pleas with the organization to reduce the numbers of low-income housing allocations from 539 to 223 units.  More

Identity theft Essay contest Cafe Rouge
Saratoga has been identified as a high-risk community for identity theft. Police say that as a wealthy community, Saratoga is a prime target for criminals looking to get ahold of bank account and credit card information.  More A Saratoga sixth-grader has won third prize in a contest for her essay on what it means to grow up Asian in America.  More Los Gatos' Cafe Rouge is slowly transitioning from a traditional European cafe to an upscale restaurant with a new chef at the helm focusing on fine French cuisine.  More
