UTILITY SERVICE THEFT—May 10, 8:50 a.m. on Brookview Drive. An unknown person stole a water meter from a box at a resident's home. The suspect removed the lid from the in-ground box, shut the water valve off and cut the downstream end of the plastic pipe. The estimated cost of the meter is $300.
AUTO BURGLARY—May 10, 7:50 a.m. on Old Wood Road. The reporting party said that an unknown person smashed the driver's side window of his car and stole a paintball gun valued at $250. The suspect also took some miscellaneous hand tools valued at $200. The officer was able to lift a print card from the door handle on the driver's side.
IDENTITY THEFT—May 9, 2:50 p.m. on Sobey Drive. A victim of identity theft reported that an unidentified suspect used the account information on her ATM card to purchase goods and services without the victim's permission. The victim believes the account information was obtained by the suspect when she was purchasing items at a ski resort.
IDENTITY THEFT—May 8, 8 p.m. on Arcadia Palms. An officer was dispatched to a situation involving stolen identity. The victim told the officer that an unknown person was using his name and bank account number to make false checks.
GRAND THEFT—May 8, 11:50 a.m. on Hume Drive. A female victim reported that her two kayaks and two surfboards, which were on her car's unlocked top racks, had been stolen, in addition to some miscellaneous gear and a duffel bag containing clothing and more than $16,000 worth of jewelry. The victim said she did not lock her car. The estimated cost of the missing items is $23,070. Latent prints were obtained.
POSSESSION OF AN ILLEGAL DRUG—May 7, 11:05 a.m. between Fruitvale and Farwell avenues. An officer made a traffic enforcement stop on a yellow Volkswagen for making an illegal turn. The officer discovered that the driver had a suspended license. Upon vehicle search, the officer found a small amount of marijuana on the front seat. The officer also found a small amount of a white crystal powder that tested positive for methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested and taken to the main jail.
PAROLE VIOLATION—May 6, 1:30 p.m. on Fourth Street. An officer found a suspect drinking an alcoholic beverage in a park, which is a violation of a city ordinance. The officer did a record search and found that the suspect was on parole and is a registered sex offender.
