Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley cares for many animals in need

Thousands of orphaned or injured wild birds and animals are saved every year through the efforts of staff and volunteers at the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley. Two Saratoga residents, Trudy Burney and Sophie Duckett, have for years helped to nurture the animals back to health so that they can be rereleased into the wild.  More

Traffic calming Sexual assault PAL Center
Areas of the El Quito neighborhood frequently traveled by speedy and reckless drivers are back to being peaceful, thanks to some traffic-calming devices that were installed a month ago in response to growing concerns about pedestrian and driver safety.  More Harmonie Day Spa has been getting a lot of media coverage of late following the arrest of one of its employees on charges of sexual battery and improper conduct, but support from clients and fellow merchants is continuing to grow.  More Saratoga High School has just days to raise the approximately $400,000 it needs in order to begin construction this summer on its Performing Arts and Lecture Center.  More

African dance Toll House Hotel Principal for a day
For five years, Masankho Banda has taught residents how to rhythmically celebrate their bodies every Wednesday at the Saratoga Community Center, where all cycles of life and living—birth, death, travel, healing, welcoming, marriage—are interpreted through dance.  More The first Tuesday of every month is something special at the Toll House Hotel in Los Gatos. Complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres, as well as showings of art accompanied by the performance of a local musician, have made the event a hit with local residents.  More Third-grader Maddie Emery was principal for a day at Saratoga Elementary on May 16, taking part in an annual tradition intended to give students a fresh perspective on being in charge.  More
