By Eric Fontes
The Homestead swim teams made quite a splash in the Central Coast Section swimming and diving championships.

The girls notched 178 points to finish third out of 36 schools competing at the Santa Clara Swim Center on May 17.

Catherine Kung, Jessica Lee, Amber Hovey, Abra Armour and Jackie Laird starred for the Mustangs.

Armour capped off her senior season with a first-place showing in the 100 free in 52.44. She swam 23.90 in the 50 free to finish second behind CCS record-breaker Brooke Bishop of Mountain View.

Hovey matched Armour's efforts as she nailed first in the 100 butterfly in 55.33 and second in the 200 individual medley in 2:04.58.

The Mustang swimmers also held their own in the boys' competition by finishing ninth as a team.

Other local standouts included Lynbrook's Cole Robinson, who grabbed third in the 100 fly in 51.67, and Michael Wang, who swam to sixth place in the 200 free in 1:46.20.

Viking freshman Nilasha Ghosh doubled in the women's competition, placing second in the 100 fly (57.62) and fifth in the 100 backstroke (59.45).

For Saratoga, Roger Tsai, Dustin Lei, Brandon Smith and McCord Blackwell teamed up to finish ninth in the 200 free relay. Lisa Chu finished 15th in 100 breaststroke in 1:09.92.
