Slicing it thin for a heavy impact

Chicago artist Margaret Wharton makes her West Coast debut with her show "Slicing It Thin" at Montalvo. For the past 25 years, Wharton has turned ordinary objects into artistic statements on religion, death, family and womanhood. Montalvo Gallery will carry the exhibit until Aug. 27. Sample sale offers home furnishings

Get designer goods for a steal at the ninth annual Designer Sample Sale at West Valley College on June 7 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event, sponsored by the WVC Interior Design Club, will feature home furnishings from Bay Area designers and boutiques. Items include silk pillows, oil paintings and imported rugs at cut costs.


Cooking, clogging at the rec center

Choose from classes such as Chinese herbs, clogging, stained glass, belly dancing, savvy traveling and Indian cooking. Watercolors mark downtown exhibit

To celebrate the upcoming summer season, Gallery Saratoga features "Serenity," a collection of watercolor landscapes by Daryl J. Joseph.

The exhibit will run through June 29, with a public reception for the artist from 1 to 5 p.m. on June 29. Gallery Saratoga is located at 14435-A Big Basin Way, Saratoga.
