Graduates honored at local schools

School ends in Saratoga this week, and graduation ceremonies will be held on June 12 and 13. Graduation information is as follows: Redwood Middle School, 4 p.m. on June 13 on campus; Prospect High School, 4 p.m. on June 12 in the stadium; Westmont High School, 4:30 p.m. on June 12 in the stadium; and Saratoga High School, 5 p.m. on June 12 on the football field.


University honors Saratoga native

Utah State University has awarded Saratogan Edwin Ray Stafford with the Bill E. Robins Professor of the Year award. Stafford, a marketing professor, has won multiple teaching honors through the years, including the university's College of Business Professor of the Year award three times, the Meritorious Achievement in Environmental Education award from the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the Olympic Winter Games, and the 2003 Merrill Library Faculty Award.

Stafford graduated from Saratoga High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in marketing from San José State University, a master's in business administration from Santa Clara University and a doctorate in marketing from Arizona State University. This fall he will take a sabbatical and work on a strategy to develop renewable energy markets in Utah, using a grant he received.


Saint Andrew's Mui goes to Australia

Kyle Mui, a seventh-grader at St. Andrew's School, will travel to Australia as part of winning the Geoffrey Andrew Ladd Discovery Award. The award is given to one student a year who exhibits citizenship, civility, curiosity and a "venturesome passion for discovery and learning."


Resident graduates from Azusa Pacific

Jessica Blake Laughlin graduated from Azusa Pacific University last month with a bachelor of arts in liberal studies. Laughlin graduated from Saratoga High School in 1999 and then enrolled in the private Christian university in Southern California.
