Auditions will be held for 'Fairytale'

Youngsters can catch the theater bug on June 21 when auditions will be held for Saratoga's summer show, Hail, Hail the Fairytale, in which fairytale villain's picket in protest of their misunderstood personalities. Actors should prepare a short song to sing for auditions, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Auditions are open for students in second through 12th grades. All children will be cast.

Auditions will be held at the North Campus, located at 19848 Prospect Road, Saratoga.


Summer activities begin at Montalvo

Montalvo's Education and Outreach Department will kick off its Summer Sunday workshop series on June 22, offering hands-on art projects. All skill levels are invited to join professionals teaching painting, sculpture and writing.

To register, call 408.961.5858. A nonrefundable $15 materials fee will be charged for each workshop.

Montalvo is also hosting auditions on June 30 at 9 a.m. for the Missoula Children's Theatre production of Beauty Lou and the Country Beast. Children ages 5 to 18 are welcome to audition at Montalvo's Garden Theatre, located at 15400 Montalvo Road in Saratoga.

No previous experience is necessary, and nearly 60 parts will be cast. The play will be performed on July 3 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 408.961.5858 or online at http://www.villamontalvo.org.


Ceramic art display at Hakone Gardens

The Orchard Valley Ceramic Arts Guild exhibit will be at Hakone Gardens through June 22. The art guild was originally formed two years ago by Sunnyvale potters, and has grown to 150 members spreading throughout the region.

The guild is celebrating its members and success with the show.

Hakone Gardens is located at 21000 Big Basin Way in Saratoga and is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
