Kindergarten is no place for a discussion of war
Gloria Wang's article in the June 24 Saratoga News described a visit by Marine Lt. Eric Gentrup to a kindergarten class as a good thing. Carly Doubrava, their teacher, said it would be a "good opportunity" for her students to learn about war.
What did they learn? Thankfully they didn't learn about the blood and the guts that spilled on the ground in Iraq. Kindergarten is not a place to discuss war! It would be out of the question to discuss anything unpleasant with children that age, so what's left? A geography lesson, some anecdotes and oversimplified misinformation. I suppose we must indoctrinate them early so we will have plenty of cannon fodder for coming invasions.
