The verdict is in for a Sunnyvale man who was recently charged with three counts of burglary, possession of a burglary tool and attempted rape of a Saratoga female resident.
John Ng, who was initially facing up to six years in a state prison, pled guilty to the crimes and will be sentenced to two years in a state prison and three years on parole starting Aug. 19.
According to a Santa Clara County deputy district attorney, Matt Braker, Ng is already a "three-striker," which means that one more felony would put him in jail for 25 years to life without the possibility of parole, according to the Three Strikes law.
Sheriff's deputies apprehended Ng in December after catching the 52-year-old man breaking into the home of his female friend on Cox Avenue.
Officers found several items in Ng's car, such as detailed handwritten instructions on a 3 by 5 note card, rope, duct tape, a trash bag, a tube of KY jelly and handcuffs, leading them to believe that the crime was premeditated with the intent to rape and then kill the victim.
According to a police report, Ng and the victim met seven years ago as members of the Sierra Singles Club. The two dated for a short time, but the victim told police that she terminated the relationship because he began exhibiting some strange behavior. However, the two kept in contact with one another throughout the years.
Ng was originally charged with possession of a tool for an unlawful purpose, attempted burglary and attempted rape, but the charges have been changed from attempted to actual burglary.
